Respiratory Care

The Respiratory Care Service is a 24-hour day, 7 day week service provided by 10 - 15 Respiratory Care Practitioners licensed by the state of Florida. All practitioners are either Certified (CRTT) or Registered (RRT) in the field of Respiratory Care. The staff provides in-patient and outpatient diagnostic studies for patients experiencing breathing difficulties and provides extensive in -patient therapy for its hospitalized patients.

Common Sleep Disorders
Sleep apnea is a condition that causes sufferers to stop breathing during sleep, perhaps up to several hundred times per night. In severe cases, the sufferer may actually spend more time not breathing than breathing. People who suffer from sleep apnea have trouble breathing normally while asleep because of an obstruction in their upper airway, resulting in loud snoring during the night. They may also have the sensation of choking or may move around a great deal in bed. Patients with sleep apnea often experience early-morning headaches and feel extremely sleepy throughout the day.
